We were so excited for day 1 with our new students, Rain and Han! They are delightful young ladies and are so excited about being here. They already have amazing English skills and have been so patient with us as we try to acquire the same amazing skills…in Chinese! This is such a phenomenal opportunity for not only our class but our school as well! We look forward to what the rest of the week will bring.
Sixth grade leaders,
I am so sorry to say that I will be missing out on school tomorrow. Sophie sustained an injury to her eye today that landed her (and me) in the emergency room at Community North tonight. Her poor little eye is still extremely swollen so I am going to stay home with her (and Super Cole) tomorrow to keep my eye on her eye!
I have sent plans to Mrs. Stinson to print out for me ~ the guest teacher (whoever that will be) knows everything that needs to be done tomorrow. I have assigned people to do the counting of the pennies at the end of the day so please be listening for your name and what grade level bucket you will be responsible for.
Remember to count the money twice (one person the first time and his/her partner the second) to make sure your numbers match. Also, I will need two totals on a post it note labeled with the grade level ~ the first number on the post it should be the TOTAL AMOUNT OF MONEY in the bucket (this includes all coins ~pennies and silver as well as dollar bills). The second number will be the AMOUNT AFTER THE SILVER COINS and BILLS have been subtracted. Remember, you are not just subtracting the number of silver coins but rather the total value of them (for example: I would subtract 85 cents from a total amount of 200 because I counted 3 quarters and 1 dime which total 85 cents…so my first number would be 200 and my second would be 115). Make sense?
I am so proud of your efforts and cannot wait to hear how your day went. I hope someone will post the totals on a blog for me to see! I will be making predictions all day. My goal, when I am not keeping my eye on Sophie’s eye, is to work on our personal fundraising page for One Drop at a Time! Be good for the guest teacher and be good to each other. I will miss you. See you Thursday.
XOXO
Hooray….the first round of our COLLEGE ADMISSION packets arrived today! I am so excited for our students to be receiving this information!!!
The new sheriff in town and his sidekick, Sophie-cake, had so much fun tonight! This is the first Halloween where Cole really understood what he was doing and did a great job saying not only, “trick or treat” but “thank you” as well! Sophie was very content just riding in the wagon saying “hi” to all of the goblins, ghouls, and ghosts passing by! Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, I hope you had an enjoyable evening with your family or friends.
